Taco Talkin.

I love a traditional taco! But what I love even more then a traditional taco is healthy traditional taco, with a twist! I came across this recipe on Pinterest that my husband and I are gushing over! The recipe is called Roasted Vegetable's and Black Bean Tacos. These tacos are loaded with vegetables which makes it a simple and yummy way to get a good dosage of veggies. Since I'm married to a carnivore and this recipe is vegetarian style I added in ground chicken to make my hubby happy. I also substituted the black beans for pinto beans simply because we like pinto better! This recipe is definitely a keeper!! Delicious, simple and healthy! Whats not to love?
Posted below is MY version of the linked recipe above. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 medium yellow squash, chopped into small chunks
1 medium zucchini, chopped into small chunks
1 small onion, chopped
1 medium red bell pepper, de-seeded, ribs removed and chopped
1 medium sweet potato or yam, peeled and chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 package of ground turkey or desired meat (anything would really be good)
One (15-ounce) pinto beans, drained
One (10-ounce) can original Ro-Tel (tomatoes + chiles)
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Corn or flour tortillas (We used the flour ones that are dough and you cook on the stove)
Feta cheese
suggested add-ins: avocado, lettuce, sour cream)

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a large, rimmed baking sheet with nonstick spray.
2. Add all chopped vegetables to a large bowl and toss with the olive oil. Spread the veggies on the prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast 15 minutes, stir to re-distribute, roast another 15 minutes, stir again, and roast one more time for 15 minutes (45 minutes total). This step may be prepared ahead of schedule- just refrigerate your veggies until ready to make your tacos.
3. In a medium skillet, brown ground turkey or desired meat. Once meat is browned add the pinto beans and Ro-Tel tomatoes over low heat. In a small bowl, combine the spices (cumin through pepper). Sprinkle the spices over the Meat/beans/Ro-Tel and stir to combine. Add the roasted veggies, stir to combine and continue to heat until the mixture is completely warm.
4. Assemble tacos: Place a scoop of the roasted meat/veggie/black bean mixture into a tortilla and feta cheese and other desired fixings. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Leftovers are good for a couple of days!

Deep Conditioning for your Hairs!

The salon I work at, Lunatic Fringe recently did a special on deep conditioning treatments. Since I love treatments so much I thought I would share!
A treatment is basically a super intense and extremely dense conditioner. Treatments are meant to focus on one area of the hair to help correct and repair what the hair is lacking. Usually the different areas to focus on are moisture, protein, damage/breakage, shine, and color protection. At my salon we use a few different brands of treatments and my favorites are Kerestase and Dixon!
I can not even begin to explain how amazing the brand Kerestase is! Kerastase has found the perfect balance of everything your hair needs in any given product they make! Not only do they have amazing treatments but they have the absolute best products too! Try this brand one time and I guarantee you'll be hooked! Since I started using this brand of product I have less breakage, my hair is softer, shiner, and healthier! And I cant get it to stop growing, which really isn't a bad problem to have!

Kerestase offer's five different treatments for five completely different things!

The first four are called Kerastase Fusio Dose Treatments. These four instant fiber transformation treatments are used in the sustaining of Color Protect, Age Recharge, Moisture, or Protein. They work instantaneous and stay in the hair for up to eight washes.

The Fifth and most amazing conditioning treatment Kerestase has ever released is called the Chronologist. The benefits from using this treatment are unexplainable. Your hair is left incredibly soft, supple and shiny. Hair fibers are deeply nourished, strengthened, and the integrity of your hair is preserved. Your scalp is left feeling hydrated and soothed.

Last but not least is the most wonderful Protein treatment that our color line Dikson carries. Its called the Structure Fort. This treatment is for you blonde's and ladies that have damaged hair. Its packed full of protein and other minerals. It focus's directly on the damaged parts of your hair by reconstructing split ends and fills in any cracks to help from creating further breakage.

I offer all of these treatments at my salon and would love for everyone to try them! Contact me if your interested and mention this post and we'll take ten dollars off your service!

 Xoxo

Trip to San Fran

After not posting much in the last couple weeks I realized how much I like to blog! I enjoy getting my thoughts out. Being married to an engineer can sometimes lead to a lack of conversation. He tends to think more then speak so usually I talk and he listens, here and there he throws in a "ya" or "uhhuh." Mostly just to humor me I think. At times this is nice but then sometimes it starts to feel very lonely. Thank goodness for our puppy Locks, she's good company. So my conclusion is, since my husband doesn't want to hear about "window wants" or why I used sugar instead of salt, I will blog! Because blogging helps me get things of my mind.

Here's some photos from our San Francisco Trip. So fun, But I missed our puppy so so much!

The Bathrooms

Our cute grandma house really needs a face lift and we've decided to start in the bathrooms! Remodeling consist of making countless decisions and spending a lot of money all based on an idea you have in your head, and just praying it works out! You really have to know what your final vision is for your entire home before you even start. There are so many different styles and items to choose from these days! Which makes it fun and overwhelming all at the same time.
When you look at a picture of a room, you pinpoint all the beautiful things you like. Then when you start breaking down all the items that actually go into one area or room, it becomes overwhelming! The amount of detail that can go into such a small space like a bathroom is amazing! You don't even realize this until you start actually picking it apart and then putting it back together. But all in all its really fun to look at something old and recreate it into something new and beautiful! I cant wait for the end result!

Here's some photos of our bathrooms now and my inspiration of whats to come. We are mostly focused on the shower and tub area right now! Cant wait to post after photos!

Clearly we've begun! Above the tub were doing Herringbone with subway tile like the picture below. On the floor we are doing mat grey octagon tile like the picture below. That funny cabinet on the wall is going to become just a plain wall. Painting the sink's cabinets white (maybe) and doing a white and grey marble counter top. Painting the walls light grey. All gold everything when it comes to faucets and hardware. Light fixture's and mirror ideas to come. I haven't got that far!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This bathroom is the master bath, and its going to take a lot more work! First, the carpet! Eww.. its got to go. Were doing itty bitty white octagon tile's with black grout on the floor all the way into the shower. (picture bellow) We are extending the shower along the entire wall to make it bigger, and doing an all glass wall with a door to make the room look bigger. Were tiling the shower with white subway tile like in the pictures below. We will paint the sink's cabinet's black or white (haven't decided) and also do white and grey marble countertops! All gold faucets and hardware too. Most likely grey or white walls. Eventually we will get around to getting or painting all the door, replacing the base boards and adding crown molding! Details, Details!
